Winchester To Host First Ever Coffee Festival
Lovers of coffee and café culture are in for a treat next month when the first ever Winchester Coffee Festival takes place on Saturday 29 September. Set to be a celebration of the region’s fast-growing café scene, the event promises plenty to see, try and buy as visitors sample their way around Guildhall Winchester.
Taking place over two sessions, a day time one (11am) and an evening one (7pm), the festival will offer visitors the chance to learn the secrets of creating the perfect cup of coffee from experts including Winchester Coffee School and Mozzo Coffee. With several interactive masterclasses and workshops taking place across the day, the event gives visitors a real opportunity to discover the exciting world behind their favourite cuppa.
Local coffee roasters will be on hand to talk visitors through this special process and they will also have a chance to try roasting coffee. The barista experience doesn’t end there. Coffee enthusiasts can also come away with some new latte art skills to show off.
In the evening session, not to be missed, are the festival’s signature coffee cocktails, created by local cocktail experts and festival organisers, the Cabinet Rooms. Tea drinkers will also be served well by exhibitors including Birchall Tea and there will be plenty for foodies to indulge in too.
The festival is a collaboration between Guildhall Winchester, The Cabinet Rooms and Flat Whites and an opportunity to meet many of those involved in the region’s vibrant, independent café culture scene. The festival organisers are actively encouraging attendees to be curious, to discover new drinks and put their questions to local beverage experts.
With a friendly atmosphere, DJs and live music accompanying the proceedings, it really will be a unique and enjoyable day out, Gary Whiter, Co-Founder of Cabinet Rooms, commented:
“We are very excited to be launching Winchester’s first ever coffee festival. There are so many fantastic local businesses involved in the region’s café culture scene, it’s great to be bringing them all together under one roof to showcase what they do and give local people a chance to really get to know them.”
Chris Smith, General Manager at Guildhall Winchester was equally excited about the forthcoming festival, he commented:
“When we were first approached to collaborate on this festival we were thrilled! Two things that make us smile – ‘Coffee’ and ‘Independent’.
The Guildhall is proud to support local independent businesses and help grow the local economy through interesting and exciting events. We enjoy watching coffee culture in Winchester thrive, and couldn’t be happier to be hosting Winchester’s first coffee festival.
Collaboration such as this is important in order to keep Winchester the vibrant place we all love, and we cannot wait for the range of incredible exhibitors we will be attracting on 29 September.”
Whether you take the event as an opportunity to kick start your Christmas shopping, to hone your barista skills or simply get your caffeine fix and have a great day out with friends, Winchester Coffee Festival will be a day to remember.
