The Pork Lovers Tour
I swear I just saw a large pink bus or are my eyes deceiving me?
Yes… The Pork Lovers Tour does indeed travel around the UK in a large pink bus. The tour which was organised by INTERPORC (a non-profit Spanish trade organization) and financed with aid from the European Union, is to help promote Spanish pork and help represent over 80,000 Spanish pork farmers.
People are encouraged on board to sample Spanish hams and chorizos, play interactive games, learn how to slice Serrano ham wafer thin, receive nutritional advice and also learn new techniques to cook pork in a health way.
I was invited on board for a cookery demonstration by their on-board chef, David, who cooked me up a healthy, but delicious Pork Loin Millefeuille.
Pork Loin Millefeuille
David started by cooking a couple of medallions of pork loin in a preheated pan over a very low heat to keep it nice and moist. In a separate pan diced red pepper was added first as this needed more time to cook (I never knew that!) followed by green and yellow peppers, then thinly sliced aubergine.
Whilst the vegetables finished cooking, David let the pork rest and then plated up the dish. A round slice of bread was topped with thin carrot strips, the cooked peppers and a slice of aubergine, then followed by the pork loin.
Finally a mixture of nuts and parmigiano, and a drizzle of olive oil.
It was a great representation of a very healthy, but flavoursome dish.
The bus has already visited London, Southampton and Bristol and will go onto Liverpool and Norwich.
